LIAM LAFOUNTAIN FOR MAYOR

Meet Liam LaFountain

ABOUT LIAM

I was born and raised in Biddeford, and I am proud to call this city my hometown. I grew up attending St. James School, Biddeford Intermediate School, and Biddeford Middle School before graduating from Cheverus High School in Portland. After earning a degree in International Relations from Gonzaga University, I returned to Biddeford with my partner, Eisha, and we bought our home on Elm Street.

Throughout my life, I've learned that public service means listening carefully, doing your homework, and showing up when it counts. That belief has guided every step of my path through academic study, professional work in healthcare policy, and now in local government.

PRIORITIZING BIDDEFORD

Today, I serve as the City Council President, now in my second term on the Council. I began my public service on the Biddeford Recreation Commission, where I worked to expand programs and protect public spaces. In every role, I have focused on making local government more transparent, more accountable, and more responsive to the people who live here, whether that means advocating for housing stability, supporting our schools and youth programs, or planning thoughtfully for the future.

I am running for Mayor because Biddeford is at a pivotal moment. The choices we make today—about education, housing, infrastructure, public services, and other priorities—will shape our city for decades to come. That future must be built with care, grounded in data, and rooted in what residents truly need.

Biddeford is where I grew up. It is where I hope to grow old. I care deeply about the people who call this place home and about the next generation who will shape where we go next. I believe city government should work for all of us, not just today, but with a clear eye toward the future. As Mayor, I will bring steady leadership, a commitment to service, and a clear focus on doing what is right for Biddeford—now and for years to come.

This November 4th, I would be honored to earn your support, and the privilege to serve Biddeford as your next Mayor.

CAMPAIGN VISION

Why I'm Running...

Biddeford is at a turning point. The decisions we make today will shape the city our children and grandchildren inherit.

I am running for Mayor to ensure City Hall works for the people of Biddeford. Not just now, but for the long term. That begins with a culture of accountability, transparency, and public service. Residents deserve to know how decisions are made, how public dollars are spent, and how to make their voices heard. Too often, those processes are unclear, uninviting, or driven by insiders. That needs to change.

As a City Councilor, I have prioritized listening, responding, and getting results. Whether it is improving pedestrian safety, preserving recreation spaces, or pushing for fairer housing policies, I believe the Mayor should be more than a ribbon-cutter or a dealmaker. The Mayor sets the tone for local government. That tone should reflect the priorities of the people, not just those with influence or access.

Biddeford is moving in the right direction in many ways. But we cannot ignore the growing challenges that many residents experience every day. Rising rents and taxes, overstretched infrastructure, and too few opportunities for young people and working families all require attention. We must confront these issues directly. That means thoughtful policy, honest budgeting, and a commitment to equity across every neighborhood.

I am running to deliver leadership that is visible, proactive, and rooted in service. That means maintaining fiscal responsibility while strengthening essential services. It means ensuring that development benefits our city, not just developers. And it means making local government easier to navigate and more responsive to the people it serves.

We need a mayor who will plan not only for today, but for the Biddeford we want to build. A city where families can stay and thrive. A city where young people can see a future. A city where seniors can age in place. A city where public decisions reflect public values.

These are not easy times for local government. But that only makes it more important to lead with integrity, to listen with humility, and to govern with a long view. Biddeford deserves a Mayor who shows up, asks tough questions, and ensures decisions are made openly, responsibly, and in the public interest.
